Round up! What did you miss out on?

Following the huge success of the Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Conference held on the 24th and 25th of June 2007 at The Forum in Bryanston, Johannesburg; our office has been requested to provide an update on some of the information shared at the Spa Conference, which most certainly set the standard for Spa Industry Education.


This years Spa Conference combined 4 Conference Programmes, aimed at ensuring the success of South African Spas, as each Conference Delegate was able to tailor their Spa Conference experience to suit their own individual spa's needs and requirements.   

 
Les Nouvelles Esthetiques identified the need to create 4 Conference Programmes, due to the diversity of the Spa Industry. One thing is certain when it comes to S.P.A.’s and the significance of those three letters: Sanitas Per Aqua, everyone seems to have their own definition of the word. For some, it's a surreal place, a dedicated haven of relaxation and tranquility. For others, it is a sanctuary to regain a balanced state of health and wellness. The term 'spa' can also be extended to embrace Health and Fitness Centres, Beauty and/or Medical Institutes.
 
In each case, the common thread running through each of these different notions is the element of health and vitality. Which has resulted in the phenomenal growth in the industry, requiring a greater demand for industry education.

These 4 Conference included:
- The A-Z of Spa Set-up and Design
- Medi-Spa
- The Business of Spas
- Spa Therapies

 

The A-Z of Spa Set-up and Design - Provided an intuitive understanding of the concept and design of a spa, resulting in fully operational and progressive facilities. Our speakers, all leading Spa Consultants and experts in their field addressed the questions and concerns of delegates not only developing new spas but spoke to existing owners about areas where they can improve their current facilities, Spa operations, whilst addressing market trends such as fitness, cellulite and weight-loss.

 

Medi-Spa - Is most certainly the new health trend. And the Medi-Spa Conference addressed delegates concerns about whether or not they were heading in the right direction, as they travel down this new road. Some of the leading Doctors and health professionals addressed every aspect from the future of comprehensive medical and wellness care in integrative anti-ageing and spa services, medi-spa designs, legislation, the latest technological advancements to the latest health concerns of today's medi-spa clientèle

 

The Business of Spas - Was a highly informative conference, where both local and international speakers offered thought-provoking insights and practical techniques that owners and operators can apply towards building their brands, motivating staff, streamline the operations, effectively addressing concerns and collectively improving overall profitability.

 

Spa Therapies - An absolute wealth of knowledge was shared in this dynamic conference, allowing delegates to have the keys and answers to the ever changing consumer demand for improved spa and wellness therapies. International and local speakers looked at the latest trends and techniques, ranging from Thai Yoga, Bamboo Massage, Sound Therapy, Essential Oils and the secrets of the Kalahari.

 

Les Nouvelles Esthetiques was delighted to have hosted 9 International Speakers who traveled from various corners of the globe to provide their knowledge and insight to the South African Spa Industry. Many of the international speakers provided various challenges to all present, whether being on a business, ecological or therapeutic level.

Much has to be said about the South African Speakers at the Spa Conference. They all provided a wealth of knowledge and information that is most certainly relevant to the dynamic and ever-changing South African Spa Industry. Delegates from Africa, including countries such as Mauritius, Mozambique, Kenya and Ghana were overwhelmed with the extraordinary developments taking place within the South African market.
 

One of the most exciting developments was the formal vote that inaugurated the South African Spa Association. The conference was undoubtedly a fantastic educational and networking event, and has most certainly set the standard and pace for not only the Spa Conference Delegates, but also the Spa Industry as a whole.
 
We look forward to hosting the Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Conference in July 2008, as the spa industry in South Africa continually brings like-minded people facing common challenges in the Wellness-Spa Industry together, finding viable paths to our goals and becoming a leading example for the industry abroad.
