LES
NOUVELLES ESTHETIQUES SPA CONFERENCE 2006
– A TRUE TASTE OF SPA SUCCESS IN SOUTH AFRICA!
[27 June 2006, Johannesburg, South Africa]
The Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Conference 2006 was held on the
25th and 26th of June 2006 at The Forum in Bryanston, Johannesburg
and was a great success.
“Setting the Pace” was the theme for the Spa Conference 2006, and
was aimed at ensuring the success of South African Spas, as well as
the spas that were represented by Rwanda, Ghana, Angola, Mozambique,
Namibia and Kenya. As spas are today an integral component of
finding and creating wellness, we have found the expansion as well
as inclusion of these elements on the spa’s treatment menus.
Wellness and well-being is a lifestyle, which provides for continued
business for spas, as they are “centres of wellness” and an integral
place in societies everyday lifestyle. The Les Nouvelles Esthetiques
Spa Conference looked at how African Spas can not only harness
wellness, but whilst setting the pace and ensure success.
The Spa Conference was highly informative, with an array of speakers
who are experts in their fields. On Sunday the 25th of June, some of
the speakers included Rob Cowling who provided the represented spas
and related companies, with the keys to relaxation, and Karen Bester
introducing the latest innovations in oxygen treatments. Dr Rajen
Cooppan amazed the delegates with the ‘Incredible world of India’
and Ayuverda, whilst Jacqueline Wentzel who entertained while
delegates found the tools to speak the ‘Same Language’ to staff and
guests. The Anti-aging panel discussion with Dr Geraldine Mitton,
John Knowlton and Nadine Szecsei, most certainly ended the first day
of the conference on a high.
On Monday the 26th of June, the day opened with Chantell Illbury who
gave insight into scenario planning in action, whilst Chris Parker
demonstrated the value of data, providing an edge on business
intelligence. The third speaker Frank Tilley captured the audience’s
attention as he explained the keys to effectively ‘People Branding’
in your spa. Debbie Merdjan fascinating speech on water captured the
essence of spas, while Sean King provided insight into ‘Taking the
Spa Experience Home’. The new role of Nutrition in the Spa was
addressed by Maria Ascencao, and if that didn’t leave the delegates
with enough ‘food for thought’, some of South Africa’s leading Spa
Owners and Managers unlocked the treasures of successful spas Hidden
Secrets.
The conference was undoubtedly a fantastic educational and
networking event, most certainly “Setting the Pace” and in some
cases “Stepping up the Pace” for the Spa Conference delegates.
Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Conference 2006 was sponsored by a
number of elite spa brands, consultancy and spa tourism companies.
The valued sponsors were: Ahava, Algologie, Bernard Cassiere,
Carita, Derma Life, Guinot, Matis, Phytomer, Repechage, Thalgo and
Spa Living.
We look forward to hosting the Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa
Conference on the 24th and 25th of June 2007, at The Forum,
Bryanston, Johannesburg, as the spa industry in South Africa
continually brings like-minded people facing common challenges in
the Wellness-Spa Industry together, finding viable paths to our
goals and becoming a leading example for the industry abroad.
