As
quoted in 2003: “Spas… the word that was once a whisper, is
now the word and experience that people cannot be with out.
Many thought that it was a passing trend, but they have been
proved wrong… spas are anything but a fad they are a
lifestyle and a vital element to finding balance and
relaxation within our lives.”
With this introduction we celebrate the 4th annual Les
Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Awards, hosted by Les Nouvelles
Esthetiques South Africa in association with Les Nouvelles
Esthetiques Paris, on Sunday the 6th July 2008, at The
Sandton Sun Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg.
The Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Awards Gala Dinner evening
was filled with excitement and glamour as some of the
industries most respected and well-known names came together
to acknowledge their peers, while being entertained by the
memorable Christine Mansour, after the prestigious opening

Consulat.

recognition of achievement, it sets a benchmark for spas in
South Africa, and all the finalists and winners are worthy
of this acknowledgment.
Spa Recognition Awards 2008
“We focus a large amount on the actual spas, however there
are a number of individuals who go above the call of duty,
who stand out from the crowd and through their work the
entire industry benefits”, said Dr Nadine de Freitas as she
introduced the Les Nouvelles Esthetiques the Spa Recognition
Awards at the Gala Dinner Event. These Spa Recognition
Awards include three categories, The Spa Ambassador Award,
The Humanitarian Award and The Spa Visionary Award.
The Spa Ambassador Award, symbolises a person who represents
the industry, in a thank less capacity. The award goes to a
person who has made the industry proud and whose presence in
the industry is noted internationally. The Spa Ambassador
Award 2008 was awarded to Helene Bramwell,
President of CIDESCO (2000 – 2008). The Spa Humanitarian
Award, is awarded to a person who by definition is
actively concerned in promoting human welfare and especially
social reform. The 2008 award was awarded to Rudi Baker,
from Healing Hands. The third award was the Spa Visionary
Award 2006, which was awarded to Rob Cowling from
ONEwellness for consistently holding the flag of wellness
for over 25 year.
We look forward to hosting the Spa Awards in 2009 and Spa
Recognition Awards 2009, as South African Spas and
individuals continue to flourish in an internationally
growing market place.
